I want to share with you the implementation of capacity planning with Centreon. This new will interest to a lot of people :-)

I was inspired by this article and here is an example to illustrate its implementation. More information on the algorithm used http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/doc/rrdgraph_rpn.en.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Least_squares.

To begin, I will take the example a host called srv1 and Linux_FileSystem_ / data_Usage service. I have 2 perfdata size and used for this service.

I will create 3 virtual metric in Centreon>Views>Graphs>Metrics. Choose the host srv1 and service Linux_FileSystem_ / data_Usage for the 3 metrics.

First metric : D2

  • Name : D2
  • Type : VDEF
  • RPN Function : used,LSLSLOPE
  • Metric Unit : B
  • Threshold : as you want

Second : H2

  • Nom : H2
  • Type : VDEF
  • RPN Function : used,LSLINT
  • Metric Unit : B
  • Threshold : as you want

Third : predict

  • Nom : predict
  • Type : CDEF
  • RPN Function : used,POP,D2,COUNT,*,H2,+
  • Metric Unit : B
  • Les seuils : as you want
  • Hidden : don’t select

When everything is done, see your graph in Views. Choose the host and the service. By default, predict perfdata is not displayed, you must click on a graph to see the Components chexbox
